Rita Silva was born in Lisbon, Portugal, on November 2, 1978. She joined the Marist community as a student at the age of four and completed her entire schooling at the same Marist institution. She holds a degree in Primary Education and has been a teacher since 2002 at the school she once attended. She has also served as a Cycle Coordinator and as a facilitator of the Marist Educational Model. Her journey in Marist life began in 2003 with the formation program for new educators (HEE – Hermitage Escola de Educadores). She later followed the Marist Spirituality Itineraries, where she also collaborated as a facilitator. She is a formation team member in the Province of Compostela and has contributed to various gatherings focused on Marist vocation, retreats, and formation workshops involving both Brothers and lay Marists. She took part in the International Formation Program for Lay Leaders and Marist Vocation Animators, organized by the International Secretariat of the Laity. In November 2022, she participated in the International Forum on the Marist Lay Vocation. Currently, she serves on both the Marist Life Team and the Laity Team of the Compostela Province and is a member of the Institute’s Extended Secretariat of the Laity, representing the Europe Region.
