Born on 22 February 1975 in Videira, Santa Catarina (Brazil), Br. Jorge Gaio made his first profession as a Marist Brother on 8 December 1995 in the Province of Brasil Centro-Sul. He holds degrees in Religious Sciences and Business Administration, with specialisations in management, human resources, political sociology, and Marist educational principles. He completed a Master's in Strategy and has participated in courses on spirituality, consecrated life, leadership, and missiology. Throughout his journey, he has lived in vulnerable communities, coordinated social projects, and led the Marist Solidarity Network focused on defending the rights of children and young people. He has represented his Province in civil society organisations, contributed to youth ministry, and supported immersion experiences. He served four terms on the Provincial Council and two as Provincial Bursar. He was also part of the Institute’s International Commission for Economic Affairs and assisted in planning and sustainability efforts in Africa and Asia. Since January 2022, he has served as Econome General of the Marist Institute.
