Br. Evilázio Francisco Borges Teixeira was born in São Luiz Gonzaga, Brazil. He holds a doctorate in Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University (2002) and a doctorate in Philosophy from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas – Angelicum (2004). He also has training in Theology, Philosophy, Law, University Management and Leadership, and Clinical Psychoanalysis. He has studied in Canada and the United States, combining his academic career with strong experience in educational management. He served as Rector of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS) from 2017 to 2024 and is a full professor in the Graduate Program at the School of Humanities at the same university. He has been a member of several boards of administration and has worked on topics such as religion, spirituality, psychoanalysis, education, and modernity. In 2025, he is pursuing a postdoctoral fellowship at Loyola University – Granada Campus (Spain), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Carlos Domínguez Morano, focusing on mysticism and psychoanalysis.
