Br. Francisco García Ruiz was born in 1960 in the province of Granada, Spain. He completed all stages of Marist formation, making his first vows in 1982 and perpetual vows in 1990. After completing his studies as a Primary and Secondary Education teacher, he worked in various schools in the province, serving as principal of the Marist School in Sanlúcar la Mayor, Seville, from 1990 to 1995. He later studied at the Gregorian University in Rome and the Pius X University in Madrid, earning a Licentiate in Religious Sciences. From 1999 to 2007, he was part of the Province’s Pastoral Team, primarily involved in vocational ministry and postulant formation. His missionary vocation was shaped by family life, contact with marginalized communities, “Service Camps” with university students, and the “Bolivia Project” in mission territories. Inspired by shared reading of the Gospel, the Marist Constitutions, and other Institute documents, he joined the project that later became the Marist District of Asia in 2007. From 2008 to 2014, he served in India, working with children from the Santal tribe in Burdwan, near Kolkata. From 2014 to 2020, he was a formator and Postulant Master in Davao, Philippines, and since then has served as Novice Master in Tudella, Sri Lanka. He currently serves in the MDA as Superior for a first three-year mandate.
