Br. Xavier Giné Arnella was born in Barcelona in 1967. A former student of the Maristes La Immaculada school in Barcelona, he began his Marist formation in Les Avellanes, where he made his novitiate and first profession in 1988. He completed his initial formation with three years of scholasticate in Alcalá de Henares and earned a degree in Pharmacy from the University of Barcelona in 1993. He made his perpetual profession in Les Avellanes in 1994. From 1993 to 2012, he served in various educational ministries as a teacher, youth pastoral animator, community superior, and school principal at several Marist schools: Maristes Igualada, Maristes Valldemia in Mataró, and Maristes Sants–Les Corts in Barcelona. Between 2012 and 2022, he served as Provincial Bursar of the Province of L’Hermitage, based in Lyon (France). During this period, he pursued studies in business administration at EADA Business School in Barcelona and in the management of religious institutions and congregations at the Université Catholique de Lyon (École du Didrachme). He has been a member of the Institute’s International Committee for Economic Affairs since 2018. Since 2022, he has served as Vicar Provincial of the Province of L’Hermitage and of the WCE District (since 2023). His renewal for the term 2025–2028 was approved by the Superior General and his Council on July 15, 2025.
