Br. Nguyen Viet Bao was born on June 19, 1992, in Ha Tinh Province, Vietnam. The eldest of six children, he has shown a strong interest in reading, music, and dialogue as ways of getting to know people. He entered the Marist Brothers’ formation program on September 5, 2010, following the stages of aspirancy in Vietnam, postulancy in the Philippines, and novitiate at Tudela Novitiate in Sri Lanka, making his first vows on April 9, 2016, and his perpetual vows on August 15, 2023. After his first profession, from 2016 to 2018, he completed the post-novitiate program at the Marist Asia Pacific Center (MAPAC) and later joined the Tan Chau community, serving vulnerable returnee children on the eastern border with Cambodia. Between 2020 and 2025, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and was subsequently assigned to the Nam Nung community in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. Throughout his mission, Br. Nguyen Viet Bao has served in various leadership roles, including Project Coordinator, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Community Leader, and Head of the Lay-Marist Desk of MDA. He currently serves as the Country Coordinator for the Marists in Vietnam and as a member of the Council of the Marist District of Asia.
