Br. Alphonse Tiamaro was born on May 15, 1978, in Mananjary, Madagascar. He completed his secondary education in 1995 and entered the Marist postulancy in Fianarantsoa for his initial formation. He began the novitiate in 1997 and made his first religious profession in 1999. He then undertook four years of scholasticate at the Marist International Centre (MIC) in Nairobi, Kenya, and professed his perpetual vows in Madagascar in 2006. He later completed higher studies and specialized formation for formators in Nairobi. He was appointed director of the postulancy in Ampahidrano, Madagascar, and later served as formator at the interprovincial novitiate in Save, Rwanda. From 2016 to 2023, he was part of the formation team at MIC Nairobi, accompanying young scholastics and teaching at the Marist International University College. Since 2019, he has been a member of the International Brothers Today Commission, representing young brothers and formators from MIC. He has also been actively involved in the regional commissions of the Conference of Superiors of the African Continent (CSAC). In 2023, after seven years of service in Nairobi, he was again appointed director of the postulancy in Ampahidrano. Subsequently, he was named Provincial of Madagascar by the Superior General, Brother Ernesto Sánchez, and his Council. His three-year mandate officially began during the Provincial Chapter held from January 5 to 7, 2024.
