Alida Henri Bodomanitra was born on March 4, 1976, in the southern part of Madagascar. She is married and has three sons. She studied in Catholic schools and obtained a Diplôme de Technicien Supérieur (DTS) in management. Since 2007, she has worked in a Marist school, where she is in charge of the Primary section and teaches Religion and EVA (Education à la Vie et à l’Amour) in the secondary section, a subject focused on teaching students how to live and love. Additionally, she teaches catechism at the parish level, preparing children and youth for the sacraments, thus contributing to Champagnat’s mission “to make Jesus known and loved.” She has participated in various Marist formation activities, including retreats, workshops, and recollections. In 2015, she completed the Lay Animators course in Rome, after which she was appointed Lay Animator in Madagascar, visiting even the most remote communities. In 2017, she was appointed member of the African Lay and Brothers Commission and took part in meetings in Nairobi. She has also participated in different Provincial Chapters and was a member of the preparatory commission for one, which allowed her to deepen her understanding of Marist life. Currently, she serves as a member of the extended Lay Secretariat, assuming a role of responsibility and commitment within the Marist mission. She has shared Marist life and spirituality for 18 years, an experience that gives meaning to her life.
