Australia - Star of the Sea
Elizabeth has been with Marist Schools Australia, the education ministry of the Marist Brothers in Australia, Star of the Sea Province, for six years. She is responsible for governance, risk, and legal matters affecting the schools. With a background as a practicing lawyer, Elizabeth brings a wide range of skills and experience to support Marist and school leaders in creating a safe environment for young people and staff, navigating the growing legal and regulatory complexities related to child safety and school governance. She also serves as company secretary for two Marist companies and was a member of the General Council’s Child Safeguarding Commission from 2023 to 2025. Elizabeth contributes to the wider Church as a director of Redfern Jarjum College, a Jesuit primary school for urban Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, and as a member of the Risk Committee for St Vincent’s College Potts Point, a Catholic girls’ boarding school founded by the Sisters of Charity. Before joining Marist Schools Australia, Elizabeth held senior legal and commercial roles in the financial services and insurance sectors, and worked for many years with one of Australia’s leading law firms in private practice. She lives in Potts Point, Sydney, is part of St Canice’s parish, is married to Sean, and they have four children.
