Br. Brendan Geary was born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1957. He entered the Marist novitiate in Dublin in 1975 and earned an M.A. in English and History from Glasgow University in 1981. He has worked as a teacher, youth worker, formator, and psychotherapist, and completed a Doctorate in Pastoral Counselling at Loyola College, Maryland. He served nine years as Provincial of West Central Europe and has worked internationally. He is a member of the Care and Protection Commission of the International Union of Superiors General in Rome. He has co-edited books on clergy sexual abuse and holds a PhD in Practical Theology. In July 2025, he became District Superior of West Central Europe.
