Br. Raúl José Schönfeld was born on January 7, 1972, in San Rafael, a small town in the province of Entre Ríos, Argentina. In 1985, he began his Marist journey by joining the juniorate in Luján, Buenos Aires Province, where he completed his secondary education and initial formation. He made his first religious vows in 1993. He pursued his academic studies at the Marist Higher Institute, earning degrees as a Primary School Teacher and a Religious Studies Teacher. In 2002, he completed a formation program for formators at CONFERRE in Chile. He worked as a primary and secondary school teacher, catechist, and pastoral coordinator in an educational center. He was also part of the vocational animation team in his province and served as novice master at the interprovincial novitiate in Cochabamba, Bolivia. In 2015, he was elected Provincial Councillor and Vice Provincial. In 2018, the General Council appointed him Provincial, and he was re-elected in 2021. He currently serves as a member of the Provincial Council for the 2024–2027 triennium.
