Br. Horacio José María Bustos Kessler was born on March 28, 1962, in the city of Paraná, Entre Ríos, Argentina. He entered the Marist Seminary of Luján on March 1, 1975. He made his First Religious Profession on February 28, 1982, in Córdoba, and his Perpetual Profession in 1987 in Buenos Aires. After a period of studies, he was assigned to work in various Marist schools throughout the country. He holds academic degrees as National Teacher for Primary Education (IJVG, 1983), Professor in Religious Sciences (ISMA, 1988), Licentiate in Clinical Psychology (PUG, Rome, 1995), Licentiate in Management of Educational Institutions (UCSE, 2003), and Doctorate in Psychology (USAL, Buenos Aires, 2012). He has served as a primary and secondary school teacher, catechist, youth group animator, coordinator of educational pastoral work, school principal, and formator. From 1997 to 2006, he was rector and professor at the Marist Higher Institute (ISMA). He has carried out psychological and spiritual accompaniment for priests, religious men, and women of various congregations, and offers lectures and conferences on spirituality and psychology. He is director and professor at the School for Formators “Mary, Mother of the Consecrated,” located in Córdoba. In May 2025, he was elected President of CONFAR (Argentine Conference of Religious). He previously served as Provincial Superior of the Cruz del Sur Province from 2009 to 2015, and currently holds this position again since November 2025. He has authored and published several works on spirituality, psychology, education, and formation for consecrated life, including Marist Formation: A Path of Conversion (1996), The Formation of Marist Leaders in Service: Plan, Proposals and Strategies (2002), and Psychological, Moral and Religious Guilt: Its Influence on Christian Life (2015).
