Brother Jean Mance Louis-Jeune was born on April 18, 1980, in Dame Marie, Grand-Anse, Haiti. He was born into a Catholic peasant family with eight children. He took his first steps in the faith by attending Sunday Mass from a very young age. In 1986, shortly after arriving in Haiti, he entered the Marist Brothers' school. After finishing high school, he told his parents that he wanted to join the Marist Brothers' community. He began his Marist journey on September 26, 2003, in Jérémie, when he entered the postulancy. In November 2005, he left for Medellín, Colombia, where he did his novitiate. He made his first profession as a Marist Brother on December 9, 2006. After his profession, he did his scholasticate in Mexico. During this period, he attended the Catholic University UNIVA, where he studied Institutional Educational Development and Religious Sciences. After teaching and participating in various missions in rural areas of Mexico, Brother Jean returned to Haiti in 2013, where he has worked as a teacher, pastoral agent, and vocation promoter. Since 2016, he has been responsible for the Scholasticate Formation House in Port-au-Prince and in charge of vocational ministry in the Marist Sector of Haiti. From July 2019 to July 2025, he served two terms as superior of the Marist Sector. At the same time, he continues his mission of formation and accompaniment of young brothers in the country.
