Br. António Leal was born in Rexaldia – Torres Novas, Portugal, in 1958. He entered Marist life in 1978 after completing his novitiate in Córdoba, Spain. He completed his basic and secondary education at the Juvenate of Leiria and Liceu Camões in Lisbon. He holds a degree and professional qualification in Youth Ministry and Religious Studies, as well as a master’s degree in Educational Administration. Throughout his mission, he worked in initial formation at the Marist Institute of Vouzela and served as a teacher of Catholic Moral and Religious Education at the Marist Externato of Porto, Marist Externato of Lisbon, and Vouzela Preparatory School. He has held roles as the Marists’ responsible in Portugal, Director of the Marist College of Carcavelos, and Pastoral Coordinator at the Marist Externato of Lisbon. He is a founding member of the Champagnat Foundation and has served in various capacities on its Board of Directors. Currently, he is engaged in animating Marist life, especially among Brothers and youth ministry.
