Br. Álvaro Sepúlveda Romero, from the Provincia Santa María de los Andes, was born in Limache, Chile, in 1978. He began his Marist formation in his hometown and completed his novitiate in Cochabamba, Bolivia, making his perpetual vows in 2006. He holds degrees as a clinical psychologist, a Bachelor in Education, a Religion teacher, a Master’s in Citizenship and Human Rights, and an MBA. With over 25 years of experience, he has worked in both formal and non-formal education in vulnerable areas, especially in La Pintana and La Serena, where he serves as the legal representative of Marist schools. He has led projects in human rights and solidarity, including provincial coordination of volunteering and integral ecology. Between 2016 and 2019, he represented the Marist Institute at the United Nations office in Geneva. Currently, Br. Álvaro serves in the corporate governance of his province, focusing on economic and administrative management as well as strategic planning in Chile, Peru, and Bolivia.
