Br. Dan O’Riordan grew up in Whitestone, New York, as a member of St. Mel’s Parish, and spent part of his youth living and playing sports in Ireland. After graduating from Archbishop Molloy High School in Briarwood, NY, he earned a Bachelor’s degree from University College Cork in Ireland and a Master’s degree from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. He entered the Marist Brothers Novitiate in 1992 and professed perpetual vows in 1998. Throughout his ministry, he has served as teacher, coach, counselor, Development Director, and campus minister in several Marist high schools across the United States. He also worked as Vocation Director for the USA Province and served as Vice Provincial from 2015 to 2021. In 2021, Br. Dan was elected Provincial of the USA Province, and in 2024 he began a second three-year term, which will continue through 2027. His connection to the Marist Brothers Center at Esopus spans nearly four decades, during which he has served as camp counselor, maintenance crew member, cook, and leader in retreat programs such as Encounters, LaValla Weekends, Foundation Stones, and Marist Youth Gatherings. He has coordinated over one hundred mission service trips, providing young people opportunities to serve marginalized communities, and has led numerous pilgrimages. He continues to be an active presence at youth retreats and gatherings, encouraging young people to respond to God’s call with their gifts and talents.
