Br. Peter Horide, with 55 years of Marist religious profession and currently 74 years old, began his ministry as a full-time teacher in New Zealand, serving in Invercargill, Gisborne, and Auckland for about 16 years. Later, he specialized as a professional counsellor in family therapy, holding a full-time position in this field for around 13 years. His academic background includes studies in Sciences, Counselling, and Theology/Spirituality. In the 1990s and early 2000s, he served as a Provincial Councillor and participated in school governance. From 2005 to 2019, he was Province/District Bursar for New Zealand and several Pacific Islands. Between 2017 and 2022, he acted as District Delegate in Professional Standards, managing complaints and contributing to New Zealand’s Royal Commission inquiry. He is committed to supporting survivors of historic abuse and advancing Marist justice efforts. Currently, Br. Peter is a Provincial Councillor and Delegate for Aotearoa New Zealand, providing pastoral care to over 30 Brothers with growing healthcare and ageing needs. He also serves on the Province Safeguarding Commission. His personal interests include Ancient History and Biographies.
