Br. Ernesto Sánchez, originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, was born on February 21, 1961, into a family of sixteen siblings. He was a Marist student from early childhood and entered the postulancy at age 17. He studied Religious Sciences, Mathematics, and obtained a Master’s degree in Vocational Pastoral Ministry in Rome, after also earning a Bachelor’s degree in the same field. Throughout his life, he has taught at primary, secondary, and high school levels, and has served as a formator in the Juniorate and director of the Postulancy. He was part of the provincial team for vocational and youth ministry and worked from 2003 to 2009 in the General Administration as secretary of commissions and later as Director of the Vocations Secretariat. He served as Provincial of Western Mexico from 2008 and, after being elected General Councillor in 2009, Br. Ernesto was elected Superior General of the Institute on October 3, 2017.
