Born on August 8, 1979, in Santa Ana, El Salvador, Br. Juan Carlos Bolaños began his Marist journey at Liceo San Luis, where he took part in REMAR and Amigos en Marcha youth groups. He entered the Postulancy in January 1998 in Guatemala and completed his Novitiate in Mejicanos, San Salvador, making his first profession as a Marist Brother on October 27, 2002. From 2003 to 2007, he completed his university studies in Guatemala, graduating as a Literature Teacher and with a Bachelor’s degree in Religious Sciences. He has served in the apostolic mission in Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Puerto Rico as a teacher and coordinator of youth and vocation ministry. In 2014, he took part in the “Formators for a New World” program in El Escorial, Spain, and from 2015 joined the Interprovincial Novitiate team in Medellín, Colombia, as sub-master and bursar. Between 2016 and 2019, he completed the “Formation for Formators” program at the Summer School of Morelia, Mexico. In 2019, he became Director of the San José Formation House in Guatemala, accompanying the initial formation process of postulants and young Brothers. He served as Provincial Councillor from 2017 and as Vice-Provincial from 2021. He is also a member of the International Commission of the Brothers Today and represented his Province at the International Forum on the Marist Lay Vocation in Rome (2022). In June 2024, he assumed the role of Provincial of América Central and currently leads and animates Marist life and mission across the countries of the Province
