Born in Brazil on February 4, 1968, Luiz has lived in Italy since 1996. He lives in Castelgandolfo and has been married to Ombretta Pisano since 2004. He studied philosophy with the Franciscans in Curitiba, and from 1992 to 1995 he earned a bachelor's degree in theology in Jerusalem. He then graduated in Biblical Sciences from the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome. After a period as Professor of biblical theology in Petrópolis, Brazil, he returned to Rome where he graduated in WEB Programming and worked as a consultant to congregations for services related to web communication. In March 2002, he began working in the communications department of the General House as assistant to Br. Lluis Serra, mainly in the development of the Institute's website. He continued his work in the department with Brothers Onorino Rota, Antonio Estaún, and Alberto Ricika. From 2015 to 2026, he completed a master's degree in institutional religious communication at the Ramon Llull University in Barcelona. In 2016, he became director of the Institute's Communications Department.
